The CS mentality.
So lately I've been playing less CS, mainly because the servers tend to be less populated than usual due to the release of some new video games and other stuff going on in peoples daily lives. So I take a couple of days off of playing CS and then go back, then take another couple of days off and so on. In doing so I've noticed that I'm a bit more relaxed, my head is a bit more "tuned" to whats going on in the game instead of firing off thousands of thoughts a minute that have nothing to do with anything. Now I'm no pro but I notice that these breaks make it easier to make better decisions in-game; smoother aiming, no pointless rushing, better communication, etc. Again, its not a huge difference but I notice I do a bit better. I also find that spending more time trying to learn the bass and piano helps, something about the instruments that just put my head in the right place.
Then there is the other side of CS, you know, where you just don't do shit but play CS for way too long. Atleast thats the way it goes for me. I have nothing to do one day so I play a bunch, I can do semi-good and then there is a drop off point where I just suck; can't hit anything, rush like a moron into the other team, and just make bad decisions in general. But I want to keep going because I'm all pissed that I'm doing bad so I keep playing and getting more pissed... Time to turn it off before I break my computer.
Anyways, I was just curious to know if anyone else goes through the same kind of thing. Do you have hobbies or things you do to "reset" yourself? Do you notice it changes your game? Or are you one of those assholes that just pwns all the time? If so, fuck you!

Yeah, in fact just 15 minutes ago I came back from a 1-2 week break. I was using my old CS:S skills, but in the 3 rounds that I played I noticed that I definitely applied some of the BF3 tactics like quick-aiming and relying on my pistol more. It's definitely something that's hard to put into words because it is a phenomenon. I've noticed it happen before today, too. Maybe there's different levels of 'exposure' or immersion to the game, because at my very best, at my peak, it does feel like I know more of what's going on around me. Perhaps it's my own perception of what is happening or my senses are analyzing things differently.
There's no reason to play CS:S frustrated, and I think these breaks that we take do help minimize frustration.Words are only limited to the effable, while the indescribable is merely found within ourselves.

Re: The CS mentality.
When I play other games, and then come back to CS, I am definitely screwed up. Nothing like hitting shift expecting to sprint like in DOD, but then you walk, and are dead.
When I take a break completely from video games and then come back to CS, I am either rusty as hell and terrible or play like a savant. No in-between. (usually the first one)
I haven't noticed a correlation between on and off activity in terms of CS. I think it has more to do with the fact I am just an inconsistent player to begin with, so breaks or playing constantly don't really have an effect on my game.

Re: The CS mentality.
I just take breaks and watch movies, tv, play some other game, or hang with friends for a few nights. Nothing like having some sex in between, to relive stress. I won't like TPG CSS is very stressful, and gets quite repetitive at times.
