07-22-14, 10:50 PM #1DoD server goes "on demand"
In an effort to focus our time and attention on games and servers that have the potential to bring us new blood the high admins have decided to turn off the DoD server effective 08-01-14. The server will still be installed, so if anyone gets the urge to setup a PUG or something then any high admin can turn it on for a night. This is not just about TPG, but is reflective of the fact that the global DoD population is pretty much non-existent these days, which means with us being the 1% there just aren't enough people playing here to warrant having a server. It was a great run, and the highs would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the admins and regs who dedicated their time to making the server a success. Any current DoD admins that would like to become an admin in another hosted game they play just say the word.
Since this has been brought up before I will answer a couple of the common questions we expect to hear:
Why shut down a server that costs "nothing"? That is not technically true as we do pay for game tracker/monitor services, but even more importantly it costs us in resources. Additional traffic on the box, additional forums, groups, and permissions. While these things may seem insignificant they are still a cost that has to be considered.
Why just DoD? Every game server at TPG is being evaluated. It was just determined that the lack of players at TPG, and the lack of players globally to attract new players here, made it the first. It may not be the last.

In a sense anyway.
This game is what brought me here. In 2005, I was looking for a server and came across Texas Team Players...the rest is history.

RIP DoD....
Was the entire reason I joined TTP back in 2006. So many hours every day playing this game back in the day. So many memories. Sad to see it go.

And BF2 and 2142 and DayZ and Wasteland and L4D 1&2 and the COD games. It was the second game I bought a reserve slot for. It was not my cup of tea, but it was for a lot of people.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
