Thread: DoD update!!

same here, i decide i should try it one more time and i actually was able to play and had fun :O, i figured out what my problem was, too used to have to get kills by not aiming, i forgot how to aim

the only thing that really bugs me is that the scoreboard is no longer transparent. is there something in the options to change this, havent really looked.

Other then that I dont really notice much of a difference, probly since I hardly played before hand. But I find the achievements pointless as you dont seem to get anything for it. They tried to hard to make a hardcore realistic game into tf2, which is far from realistic

i wouldn't say the games realistic, it has some realism (i.e. there was a WWII, there was the Axis and the Allies, the guns are WWII guns and recoil) but really its plays more as a fast based, CTF WWII game. The TF2 stuff is still wayyy too cartoony for the game, but at least Freeze Cam is off (the stupidest thing i have ever seen).

well the reason there isn't a lot of good things said is because its like anything else. for example if you go to the store and get a really good watermelon but it costs $4 dollars, are you more like to praise how it tasted, or complained about how much it costs? Just like in gaming, you can do 3 things right, and 1 thing wrong and everyone going to complain about the wrong.

I preferred the assault class when it actually took skill to use. The random cone of fire made it difficult to kill players at mid-long range. Now it is too simple and everyone can use the assault class.

I like the fact the Garand is easier to use. The Garand was a gun that always gave me trouble. Now I can actually kill people with it. The BAR and MP44 still take just as much skill to use, but they nerfed the Thompson/MP40? Why would they do that? The BAR and MP44 always had the most difficult recoil to maintain.

The weapons were never "turd like", they just took a lot of practice to master. Now they have been nerfed so that people that don't regularly play DOD can jump on and stay competitive. That is great for "weekend warrior" gamers, but bad for those that take the time to master the weapons.

I like the achievements... they give a little bit of a challenge and give players something to work for. They will also make players step outside of the box and try weapons they don't normally use.

The TF2 stuff didnt really do... anything to the game. The Freeze Cam was turned off because that was a bit too much, but otherwise, the only thing it added was the Nemisis/Domination thingy and the achievements.

I like the update more than I dislike it.

Having now spent a week of intense TTP play at it. I like the patch. I can live without the death cam and achievements, but they do not bother me anymore. I was also bummed about the flood of newbies and non-teamplaying bitchmonkeys we were seeing, but after last night, I am excited about that. The game feels fresh and new and I am digging it.
Color me converted.
