it is a learning process through experience. unlike CSS this game actually takes weapon mastery. I say keep playing and you will get better we all started out sucking being good at it comes with many hours of gameplay.

Agreed, but a good strategy is to aim just below the head and let the recoil take you there.

My advice is, always aim for the chest. It's the biggest target and does the second most amount of damage if you hit it. For recoil, you have to find your own mouse sensitivity. That's how I do it anyway, I suggest a high sensitivity so the Supports are easy to handle and you can actually Rambo if you have to.

Aiming... well, it depends how you aim. Do you twitch, or flick your wrist to the place where they are or will be? Or do you track them with your crosshair? From what I've seen, reflexes, twitch, strafe, and map knowledge are the things you practice on to get good. That's actually the only points, but yeah, practice man. You eventually do things without thinking about them and that's when you start getting good.

And Eth's statement is not a bad place to start but try it with low sensitivity too. That's how I use it... really low sensitivity... and tons of headshots. Just try not to get discouraged too much.

The recoil isn't all that bad once you get used to it.
What i do when im new to games (and want to get better) i play alot, join empty servers and get a feel for all the guns, classes, and sometimes i like to watch videos on youtube or something similar, just typing in like DOD:S tips and i find that its actually pretty helpful.
But really the first thing i do in any game for that matter is setup my controls, and the game to my liking. I usually go straight for the sensitivity, i usually have crazy high sensitivity in fast paced games and in tactical games i slow it down a bit, but not much. then change the settings to what you want and whats more comfortable if you like crouching as your "c" button set it to that or just leave it as the "left ctrl" (thats kinda the idea for other actions)

Now a tip on the recoil, the classes that give me the most problems are support (BAR, STG44) but your best friend is the "left Ctrl" or "c" button, ect. crouching is really helpful in i guess the term is *lowering* the recoil. Keep your mouse steady and like ethereal said start from the chest up.

Just remember that crouching doesn't improve your accuracy, it just reduces the recoil. Going prone reduces your recoil a lot, but you move around like a half-dead turtle so that's not recommended. There are only a few situations that need you to be in prone and those are when like 16 people are shooting at you and you have to go prone behind a sandbag, or when you're playing MG (you still should avoid going prone with MG since you have to take the time to get back up again instead of just undeploying and running away).

A pretty underrated class is assault, the mp40 and the Thomson have a low recoil, and are very effective at close range. Out of all the classes, i get the most killing streaks in a row with the assault/mp40

another underrated class is rocket. first: you have a fucking rocket launcher! (even if it has a noticeable drop at med-long range) 2nd: The German machine pistol doesn't have much ammo, but it goes through the clips like a whore at New Years. and the American semi-auto rifle has little recoil and is fairly accurate, i've taken out (crappy) snipers with it.

    Re: if you havent noticed

I am one of few people on the server that have mastered the assault class. It is easy playing assault while camping and waiting for people to walk by... but try having balls and running out into the open and attacking multiple enemies at once. It is a rush, and is one of my favorite things to do in this game.

The Thompson's high rate of fire can be deadly at close/medium range if you learn to keep your aim level while attacking. Sprint in... fire... sprint out... then turn around and wait for your enemies as they come after you...
