Re: To preorder or not to preorder....that is the question
I always like to wait until the game comes out and hear what people have to say about it, and also give people time to have the hardware-specific technical problems that the developers didn't have a chance to find. That way when it fails and gives some crazy error message (or just repeatedly crashes) you can search and find a fix pretty quick. Also obnoxious bugs like the Fallout3 Steam Cloud bug where it would pretend to save your quicksaves but actually wouldn't, so you'd wind up losing a lot of progress unexpectedly.
No preorder if it's a big developer, but it's fun to preorder from Indie developers because it helps the game get made. Also, in the case of Minecraft and Mount&Blade I got the early version of the game for something like $10 a long time before the official release.Last edited by Toad; 02-06-12 at 09:03 PM.
