Thread: To preorder or not to preorder....that is the question

Im with Illusion on this. There are some developers that are worth the preorder for their games and others not so much. But then again it all depends on the game that is coming out.

I always like to wait until the game comes out and hear what people have to say about it, and also give people time to have the hardware-specific technical problems that the developers didn't have a chance to find. That way when it fails and gives some crazy error message (or just repeatedly crashes) you can search and find a fix pretty quick. Also obnoxious bugs like the Fallout3 Steam Cloud bug where it would pretend to save your quicksaves but actually wouldn't, so you'd wind up losing a lot of progress unexpectedly.

No preorder if it's a big developer, but it's fun to preorder from Indie developers because it helps the game get made. Also, in the case of Minecraft and Mount&Blade I got the early version of the game for something like $10 a long time before the official release.
