This video makes a point about modern shooters. Now this thread may devolve into CoD bashing, which is fine, but we buy these games. I am curious how true is this video?

My biggest annoyance with the video is that the difficulty is backwards.

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about how games have been just been getting worse, and worse, and worse.

My pet peeve: everything is based on number crunching and unlockables and skill goes out the window for the sake of "balance" and "realism." Sometimes a game is released or created one way and then is patched to take the skill ceiling out.

I kinda want to rant about LoL and CS now...

Ya it is a double edge sword, with new tech comes new things that people can create, but the longer people create games the more streamlined things can become.

This has got me thinking...when were video games the most fun?

Idk the more I think about it, I think games are getting better all the time. I just have a problem with annual releases with games like madden or, now call of duty. The devs create a game to fill a quota and not to sincerly create new content.(some devs not all)

I will wait 3 years if that is what it takes for people to truly create a new and ingaging experience, heck i would wait 5 years. I mean, look at how long it took HL2 to come out and I think it was totally worth it.

Rocket jumping was a glitch. The Quake devs were surprised at what players could do.

This was considered a good thing.

And now they ban you for it.

Also like Tribes, and Skiing and going fast was a glitch, too. Devs were all like, dude, awesome, we are branding this glitch a feature and putting it in all our games.
