Thread: Starting my own Private Server

Ive been wanting to start a private server for just me and a couple of friends. I have tried to using the Minecraft wiki tutorial but am having problems. I can start it up, make adjustments to the server, etc. I can log onto the server using direct connect, and by using Hamachi, log in using my IP. However when my bro tries to connect I get a cannot resolve server issue. Any ideas? I know I am prob not supplying enough info, not sure what people would need. Or if somebody knows a real good step by step list somewhere that would be great also. I dont plan on doing a bunch of mods or anything, just keeping it vanilla
