Diablo II Sucks

Ok, so I'll explain my history with ARPGs first so you get the context for this, I first played Diablo/Diablo 2 when I was 12 or 13 and that was just the demos, this was in 2006 or so for those wondering. So I missed the heyday of the games, now I enjoyed the dungeon crawling and that. I didn't really play any ARPGs after that until I got Torchlight in 2010 or so, I played it through and liked it. Now we're at about 2012 and Diablo 3 is getting ALL the hype, I decided hey I enjoyed the demos of Diablo 1 and 2 back in the day I should get Diablo 2 cause screw 3 and it's RMAH and always online. So I bought 2 and played it a for a little bit, this was a couple days pre-D3, now I enjoyed the atmosphere of D2, and I had some fun with it while still thinking the combat was a little stiff, now it had been 2 years give or take since I had played Torchlight for I kind of forgot how smooth it was. I ended up deciding to buy D3 and I played through it and enjoyed it mostly. Now I got a netbook for my birthday and decided I wanted to put a couple games on it, and one of the games I put on it was torchlight since I recalled it had a netbook mode, well I played it a bit and even the netbook mode played like crap, it was still pretty smooth though, and got the itch to play a ARPG itching, so I decided hey I still have D2 right? That came out forever ago it should run well, so I installed it. I started playing and MY GOD does it really suck, the combat and movement are so so so so very bad, I like the inventory but the movement is slow and silted and the combat is uninteresting and doesn't give really any tactile feedback.

Maybe it's because I didn't play tons of Diablo 2 back in the day and have played more of the more modern ARPGs but Diablo 2 just feels really bad to me, the story seems interesting and all but I don't think I can play it as is. What do you guys think?

D1 and D2 were trend setters imo and set the bar pretty high as ARPG go. But with that said, I think Torchlight is far better than D2. They haven't aged well (like many other things).

The demo of D3 that I played was pretty fun, and pretty, but didn't capture my interest the way Torchlight did.

Looking forward to Torchlight II.

I liked Titan Quest more than I liked Torchlight. I'm not too into the whole steampunk graphics and such. I will still buy torchlight 2 though.

Diablo 2 was the absolute best game during that time and if you go back to it you will ruin the legacy. Far too many times have I tried to play older games that I loved only to be disappointed. The original fallout comes to mind.
