Heh. They are actually very different games.

WWII Online:Battleground Europe(you are both right) is one gigantic map with all the players fighting in it simultaneously. It is a combat simulator.

Heroes & Generals has instanced battles decided by troop movements on a browser map, then each battle will have a limited number of players. It's combat mechanics are akin to the Battlefield series.

The truth is that Heroes & Generals actually has a bigger name, and thus has informed more players about the existence of WWIIO(because loads of people compare the 2 in the forums)

I have played H&G and it is actually really good. I like it but it needs a lot more work. Tanks for instance need some work I understand how to work them but there is some weirdness to them. Bare in mind though I wouldn't go anywhere alone in that game always have someone at your side since it is very easy for you to get ambushed. It calls for a certain amount of teamwork and I think that is pretty cool.
