Aliens Colonial Marines falls flat on its face.
There's a deal of mixed emotions flying around the web right now. Some folks hate it, other like it. But there's one major hick up, Steam didn't upload the .exe file. Countless gamers just had to slame on the brakes.
Most folks aren't impressed with the graphics and tension.
Not much word on multiplayer.
Those of you who are think about getting it to play with other TPGers, wait until a TPGer tells you it's all clear.Dispatch the DooM

Yea, got a terrible review. I really enjoyed what little I played last night, but I couldn't find anyone to play multiplayer with.
The single player seemed suspenseful, and the graphics were actually pretty good considering it is an UT3 engine game, but I heard the story falls apart as the game goes on.
I am still going to play through it.

Your weapons are also severely limited: shotguns, machine guns and pistols, along with an occasional smartgun or flamethrower. Alternate fire with grenades and lightning bolts spice these up a bit, but barely
AI hasn't improved in years. Most of us are spoiled by online players to fight against. I know once I took BF2 online, Bot matches were a good way to go to sleep. I would rank AI tactics for ACM in league with FEAR and BF3.
[QUOTE][A motion tracker that pops up quickly with the tap of a button is supposed to provide warning of these ambushes, but it's rarely useful, mainly because it doesn't kick into gear until the game engine spawns foes in your immediate vicinity./QUOTE]
I have noticed enemy spawns do wait until you are danger close at times, at times. The motion trackers acts as your hub and map. You will find armor locations with it as well as get an idea of where your objective is. Having it out is the best way to know you can run your ass off. I like that you don't need to have it in your hand to have it alert you.
[QUOTE][This failing shines brightest when itty-bitty, hard-to-see “facehuggers” spawn right above you, with next to no warning from the tracker. In any case, these hiding spots never seem to preface a well-choreographed fight; your foes almost always appear straight ahead in uninteresting formations./QUOTE]
You lose track of facehugers when you wonder around a room not paying attention to the un hatched eggs.
Foes will spread out, and alter each other when they see you flanking them.
Xenos enjoy a lofty reputation in modern sci-fi for their mix of crafty and quick maneuvers, but those features are rarely on display in A:CM, especially when they haphazardly target your AI companions—invincible allies who carry unlimited ammo. Xenos will often trot right past you to suck down infinite AI bullets, which kills a lot of the tension.
I haven't seen them go past me fo the AI because you typcally to busy trying not to die. When you let aliens in to close and dont time the melee right, your armor is gone. And while your health will regenerate, it that same system as AVP3, 3 block, once you pass a set point, you don't get that block back.
[QUOTE][Jumping into an online co-op match doesn't mitigate these issues; enemy counts, spawn locations, and behaviors remain the same. In fact, so little of the game is tuned for cooperative tactics, even at the hardest difficulties, that you have to wonder whether the option was just shoehorned into an already-constructed solo game./QUOTE]
Escape mode needs larger maps for certain, and you don't get to spawn were you please like L4D, there is on set spawn location, again for escape mode. I haven't broken in the others.
The health style isn't like L4D either. Marines are easy to knock down but also easy to get back up. And you dont go to a bleeding state, you get you health and aromor back to the level it was at before you went down. So as an alien you need to decide to put some on the their ass or dig into them. Once they are down, they lose health fast and once it's gone they are dead. In the first round I got knocked on my ass about 4 times. First time came back with half armor, 2nd time 5% aromor left, 3rd I was down to 1 health block, and didn't make it back up the 4th.
A:CM's pre-rendered cut scenes look ripped from a prior build of the game, full of blurry textures, badly animated faces, and lower polygon counts.
Certainly, the script never aspires to its inspiration's emotionally charged bravado (other than repeating the phrase "leave no marine behind" over a dozen times).
***Spoilers****
There after 2k textures would be nice and when you wielding a door does look like mush. Outside of this, graphics are now where near as bad as people are shiting themselves over.
What do you think, N64 Graphics?

I don't want to live in a dream world or get peoples hopes up, but this the release. And people rage over how terrible Skyrim looks like to this day. And I think back to these days of my all time favorite games.
