    Steam Free MMOs

Anyone tried Star Conflict or Champions of Regnum? They're free MMO games I found on Steam the other day. Regnum seems to be a fairly traditional MMORPG so far, though it claims it's focused on realm vs. realm PvP action, but I haven't gotten to that point yet. Some somewhat clunky controls, but overall not bad so far for a free game.

Star Conflict is more interesting, especially for a free game. Essentially it's a MMO space combat flight sim game. The closest thing I can compare it to is the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter games, except MMO and without the storylines. It actually runs surprisingly smooth considering it's a free game (and an indie, I believe), though the learning curve is higher than it should be because the tutorial is garbage lol.

    So anyone else tried them?

Star conflict was a disappointment to me, it looked like a MMO version of Freelancer, like Earth and Beyond tried to be, but in reality it was an arena shooter ala world of tanks in space. In my opinion it doesn't really deserve the "massively multiplayer" monicker any more than the X-wing and TIE fighter games or TF2. Since all the action is instanced arenas of up to something like 18-20 or so pilots, not all that massive.

Yeah, about the only thing I've been truly impressed with in regards to Star Conflict is how smooth it runs. For a free game I would've expected it to be much more choppy, perhaps running on a crappier engine.
