I know I dream big, but imagine a MMORPG game like Faster than Light. You have classes like Captain, Engi, gunner, medic, pilot, uhh...ambassador? Just like in FTL you have each person doing a job, and running around repairing the systems/hull from damage. Set people who are proficient in whatever class they pick up.

You travel the Verse looking for work or ships to salvage from. Docking at space stations or towns makes repairs go faster and allows you to upgrade your ship. Manning systems makes them work better. Maybe even turn it into a mini game of some sorts(like an engine repair sim or w/e). With a huge ship and like 20 people on it doing work, fighting off intruders that teleport on the ship while outside of the ship there's a huge space battle going on!!! ok...I'll stop..

Then you are lookin' for a different game. That is not what this game is gonna be.
