Thread: Base Raiding

Being able to base raid is not going to deter players, because all servers are like that. If you want to grow a population, you need numbers, and dedicated people to play. Not rules outside the norm.

Right all servers are pretty much the same. So whats to keep a pubber around if the first guy he runs into runs a freight train up his ass? Your going after fish with a sword instead of bait and a hook.

Pubbers stay around because they get in a game and develop a character. This is not CSGO.

People who come in our server and "immediately" get "fish sworded" will get the fish sword on any other server. More so on others, because other servers are already established.

People who play survival games understand that you need to lay low and hide. Not draw attention to yourself when you are new. Think about before TPG had a server. What server did you join? Most likely BMRF, because of Population. When I first joined BMRF, I died SEVERAL times because i was new. It wasn't until I found adam and krom, that I felt relatively safe. Hunt in packs, stay in packs, lonewolfing get's you no where.

Saying that, I know SEVERAL people on TPG that will take freshies in, myself included. You have nothing to worry about being a freshie on our server.

Like scott said earlier. We passed SEVERAL "Freshie" looking bases, and left them alone. I'm not wasting C4 on bullshit little 2x's forts. I'm looking for metal structures, or tall wooden towers.

There is a hint...build small wooden bases...people may not waste C4...god damnit now I'm giving away my secrets.

I'm with you, I want our server to succeed as well. But there is no other server out there saying "Fresh Spawns are safe from having their base raided so you can enjoy the game" People who play Rust understand that is the way it is. Just like DayZ, no servers were nice to freshies. It is a survival game. Get in, lay low, until you are ready to attack. Don't come in building 30 foot towers in the middle of the busiest town on the map and expect no one to fuck with you.

And these facts aren't learned within hours/days of playing the game. Like you said, trial and error, and once again that takes time. Some people have many reasons on why they can't or don't want to put that time in.

As I said from the beginning, any sort of rules/restrictions on our server was stupid. Who determines the rules? Who says when to lift or lower them? Just too many variables for an open world game. And this causes confusion and drama.

As for raiding bases, I'm glad the main group has split up for the time being. To attack or defend yourself against a group your size, with the resources you probably had/have, is just a lost cause. I really don't have anyone to group up on the server with, nor do I want to. That leaves me shit out of luck against groups. Does that mean I am forced to make an alliance with someone? I guess it might given I don't stand a chance by myself.

Was my base that good looking? Or was it the fact that I guess I built it for anyone and everyone to see? Orrrr did you just want to shit on me? Ahhhhh the truth comes out.

And if your wondering why I think you did it, I have asked reliable sources and they said your name. Maybe you were with others, but you were still there.

Oh it was totally fucking me no doubt hahahahha.....

But in all fairness, I did not know that was your base...Had I known, it would not have changed the outcome, but i did not know that was yours.

And to others reading this...it's not like Blonde was wiped out of a million things. he had a few guns and 2 c4. Not much metal or material. Granted, I'm sitting on about 30 guns right now hahahahah. Looking to give them away to players who need them. I always trade/give stuff to players who need. Hell I gave an entire wood base I built to Vlade for a measly MP5 lol.

Some hints to those wanting to play rust.

• No base is bullet proof. So make it as hard as possible.
• Count the number of C4 it would take to get in your base, know your weak points.
• Don't keep all your eggs in one basket, have several stash houses.
• Don't sleep in your house. Have a sleeping bag, but stash your body someplace safe. It's easier to see a base than your body.
• Log out with good things in your inventory, and hide your body.
• Have several sleeping bags around the map, with small stash bags next to them, in case the inevitable happens.
• Really explore the map. Places you can build are endless and there are some REALLY cool hideout locations
• Don't get discouraged. Half the fun is rebuilding and buidling new places, crafting new things, resourcing.
• The name of the game is Survival...if you don't survive, find better ways to survive. It's really fun to find out just how long you can make it.

I highlighted that point because, in this situation, had Blonde had some sort of place with a sleeping bag and stash bag (not even a building, just a crevice in a rock, he could have respawned there and at least had some food, weapon, and essentials.

The guys who need them are the ones you took them from.

*I am a neutral third party that doesn't even own this game, but let me tell you how it looks to me.

If your group consists(ed) of over half the players on the server, and while in that group you built up a fortress and resources that any single person or small group would have a near impossible time raiding, and if you then take some/all of said group out and shit stomp on anyone who has anything more than a rock then you might be a dick. Yes, you are well within the mechanics of the game, and nobody is going to punish you for your actions, but don't be shocked if/when it is just you and your buddies sitting around asking each other, "wanna see my dick...again?" because you ran everyone else off of the server.

Just my 2 cents. Play your sandbox however you choose.
