Thread: Evolve--Game by Left 4 Dead Devs

Just had an ad pop up for this on youtube and reading about it, it sounds like it has great potential:

The great insight that the developers had is that boss fights are a ton of fun, but the best boss isn’t an artificial intelligence player. It’s a real person. So in this game, four human-controlled hunters form a squad and square off against a human-controlled monster, dubbed Goliath. The hunters are well armed with cool technology for tracking and trapping the monster. But the Goliath has enormous physical strength and can charge unexpectedly.

It sounds like tank battles in L4D series, but with (major) changes. For one, the monster can heal and evolve. The players have different classes with different abilities. Among other things. The article makes it sound pretty awesome and assuming Turtle Rock delivers the goods, could be a damn fun game.

I saw the preview. It looked like shit. Unimaginative shit.

So, this game first came to my attention when the trailer for it popped up in one of those annoying Youtube ads you have to watch to get to the actual video. It caught my interest in the first three seconds, so I watched it, and it seems really good so far.

Just as the title says, this game is being developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the same developers of Left 4 Dead.

So far, it featured mode is "Hunt", a five player mode where four people play humans, and their job is to hunt down and kill the one monster. Rather then having it as set, linear levels, the levels are open worlded, and you, as humans, actually have to hunt down the monsters using various methods including tech gadgets, visual clues, and plain old tracking. Your job as the monster is to kill the humans. The human classes are Assault, Trapper, Heavy, and Medic. So far the only monster is the Goliath.

As the monster, you start out weak, and you have to avoid the humans, and kill various fauna creatures to eat and evolve. As you evolve, you get stronger.

Here's a good video that shows some gameplay and explains various elements of the game. I'm really interested in this game, and I haven't seen anyone here talking about it, so here it is.

I fully intent to get this game. Without a doubt.

It's one of the few Multiplayer games that's coming out that I'm interested in, so no way I'm going to miss it.
