It looks like a sweet game, but Fuck no, I'm not paying 40-400$ for a virtual ship, that's the dumbest crap I've ever heard of. I better get a lego model of it too for those prices.

You are forgetting that you aren't buying the ships.

You are donating to CIG to help fund development. The ship is just a nice perk that they offer as a 'thank you'.

It's going to be a huge game. They made their money with stretch goals. Goals that when met would bring even more content to the game. They also plan to be in operation for many years. There is already a mind numbing amount of stuff to this game and the open world part isn't even out yet. Take my money man because it only gets better and better if they do.

Also that ship if bought with LTI (life time insurance) it will increase in value as time goes on.

yeah yeah... but at > $46million (and that may not include other funding sources he's got) it's beginning to feel like a cash grab (regardless of whether he delivers or not). Don't get me wrong, I've been a huge fan of Roberts' games over the years (still hve the original boxes for the wing commanders games a privateer ganes) but selling a digital item for hundreds of dollars rubs me, slightly, the wrong way on principle.
