Most of the time, greedy is a bad thing. Like I said, they didn't get voted worst company in the U.S. (twice) for no reason.

Do I think BF4 will ever look like a good deal to me? No. That doesn't mean it won't look like that to others (read: it HAS looked good to others judging by hundreds of hours they have).

It's also not like BF4 at launch was offering 5 different collector's editions each with different and exclusive content.

I also consider BF4 a better buy at $100 than COD:W@W in terms of multiplayer, which I bought at full price. Then again, the BAR in W@W sounded like a blowgun.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

It's like a piece of art. It is all in the eye of the beholder. In fact that is how I view games. Masterpieces of art skillfully put together by people far more talented than I could ever be. I love Mirrors Edge it is the perfect example. However some people just couldn't stand it for one reason or another but to me that game was worth every penny I spent on it and more. Again it is all in the eye of the beholder. I like the idea of saving as much money as possible and I am sure we all agree on that but sometimes you have to be willing to shell out that money to get that great experience for hours on end.

You guys are arguing something that has no right answer. I bought bf2 3 times and spent 100 bucks doing it. Thats .037 cents per hour. Entertainment value wise its was a good investment BUT people finding games they play for just shy of 3k hours is rare. Most games dont get that kind of attention. So yeah it worked out on that one but how many others have done that? So yeah ea is being greedy and there is no denying that but whats worse is the sub par performance that has become common place with them. I dont mind spending 100 bucks on a game as long as it lives up to expectations but ea hasn't done that since bf2.

since 2142. I bought that game 4 or 5 times (one of the times was through EA's digital service where you could only reinstall the game 3 goddamn times unless if you wanted to pay a $5 insurance fee...). The only games I've spent that much time on and bought recently (for reasons other than completionism) would be Dark Souls 2 and a whole slew of Indie/retro games.

What I'm most annoyed with over EA for is ME3...the fact that I have to play the shitty multiplayer that is there to milk customers with microtransactions so I can get the best of the shitty endings. There's also Dragon Age 2, with its great combat but shit story/characters/rehashed maps. Seriously, for the majority of areas, they recycled a handful of maps where parts were closed off or doors were locked. You could still see the paths you could not access at all on that instance on the minimap.

I agree there's no right answer, or wrong answer. Let's talk quality for a moment. I bought bf2 & spec Ops for $30. Then I repaid $10 just to have it on steam. I played approximately 190hrs, it was fun, a mediocre game made great by the people playing with team player mindsets. In my opinion it wasn't a great game. The shooting in it was terrible, the learning curve was often too steep and players moved away from it due to the complex nature. Commanders were ignored, voip was used sporadically and the game physics were laughable (remember those tank stopping fences ?). All that aside it was a fun experience because of the players. It was worth a ton in entertainment. As was l4d2 ($30), bc2 ($45), bf3 ($105),bf4 ($110). There are some games that sway the scale, like bioshock infinite ($60 played maybe 12hrs worth), those games make my day. Bf4 is only worth that heady price if it gives me over 150hrs of fun game time. Hell I have 700 hrs in l4d2, I'd say only 400 were actual enjoyable hrs.

The quality of the game time makes a game worth it or not in my opinion.
Looking at pure time values games are cheap. I spent 2 hrs watching the new Cruise movie last night. $13+$2 coffee. $15 can buy me many games that'll at minimum triple that time value.

What if I told you ME3 and Dragon Age 2 were one the few single player games I've ever spent the time to complete? Just like everyone else has said already beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I loved dragon age 2 and the mass effect series. I got my money worth and then some with those titles. Really all I can add to this thread that hasn't been covered is pre ordering. BF4 while I've put in 300 hrs and spent 79 dollars for base and premium together I should have never pre ordered it. The game at launch was total shit and only days ago is it now playable to my expectations. People mentioned games like Aliens CM. You know what if we all practiced a little patience we wouldn't put ourselves in situation to get ripped off. Had ya'll waited to see what reviews had to say you could have avoided getting ripped. I'd rather be 2 days late to party and have my money then show up on due date and get ripped off anymore. That is where cost to entertainment for me made or broken.

Massive netcode improvement. You rarely kill trade now or die behind cover like before. You also get your hit indications which actually allows you to return fire so now you don't feel like you got insta gibbed.

Nice. Right now my focus is on the move and the up coming surgery but after that i might break down and pay for the upgrade just to try it out.
