    Re: Dragon Age Inquisition

Just started Dragon Age Inquisition last night - holy balls, this game is incredible and I'm only a few hours into it.

I love the look, the gameplay mechanics, the story so far, the cast - This game has all of Bioware's signature hallmarks. I've been waiting for a while to get around to this one abut man oh man, it's about to get wild!

I skipped DA2 because I didn't want to play it and because of the numerous bad things I'd heard about it - I didn't realize you could import the world state so I ended up with the default. I wonder how much will be different.

In my game, I let Morrigan make the god baby, I killed Logain, I made Allister be king, I destroyed the Mage's circle (kind of on accident), I killed blanca and destroyed the big master forge, and a few other big choices that I don't quite recall.

DA2 isn't bad, and it is relatively quick. I'm sure you can find a DA2 save to import on the webs though.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

    Re: Dragon Age Inquisition

Just finished the game - HOLY CRAP! 123 hours is pretty good, and I didn't even do everything (though I was close). The ending was fantastic, the augmented Tresspasser ending that is.

For those who haven't played, the main game has it's "ending" where the main story concludes, but the Tresspasser DLC adds several hours to the end, greatly expanding the lore and increasing the stakes, setting the stage for what will no doubt be the next game - it isn't entirely necessary, it feels like Inquisition 1.5, where it builds upon the ending, but it's just so good and so pivotal to the lore that you really should play it if you've gone all this way. The Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent are the other two story DLC released for the game, and while they do add several hours each to the game, I would say neither of them is as necessary to the story as The Tresspasser is, but they do have large enough impacts on the lore that I'm sure having played them will add different options in the next game by importing your save file with these DLC included.

That being said, while I'm quite pissed that it's a paid DLC and not a free DLC, there is something to be said about how it was developed. This wasn't a day one ending that was stripped out of the game, this was truly additional content which augments the game, but I'm still of the opinion that anything concerning the ending of a game like this should absolutely be free, especially if it wasn't done being developed when the game originally released.

I am shocked that this game didn't get more critical acclaim; it seems the sins of Mass Effect 3 were still fresh enough that a lot of reviewers and the game industry as a whole were kind of turned off to Bioware last year. Personally, I think Inquisition is better than Origins in nearly every way - the worlds are more fleshed out, the characters are just as unique and have a lot of depth, the story and the commitment to the lore stands unequaled, and it's just a ton of fun.

    Dragon Age Inquisition - 9.5/10
The Descent DLC - 5/10. Buggy as hell, endless wave horde mechanics, but has a neat ending with some good loot
Jaws of Hakkon DLC - 7/10. A lot less buggy, pretty cool story with lots of loot, quests, and areas. Some decent story additions too.
Tresspasser DLC - 8/10. A fitting conclusion to the Dragon Age story. Less buggy, quality challenging enemies, incredible story.

I think my favorite part of the game is how much your decisions will effect your party in terms of who is alive, where they stand, to whom their allegiance lies, etc. This is the first game Bioware has done where the outcome and state of the world is impacted this much by the fate of your party - so much so that certain characters may not even be present at the final battle depending on your choices.

Varric, Solas, Dorian, and Cassandra are all incredibly well developed characters

Cole, Blackwall, and Vivienne I didn't find myself using that often, though they were still interesting and provided solid character support

Iron Bull and Sera are funny ones, they are so different but they are used well in the game and the story - I suppose the characters you choose to take on quests largely depends on your main character's class, and that largely was the deciding factor causing me to rarely choose these two as well. All in all, I'd say Solas is easily the best character in the game, though I think he is probably pretty divisive depending on what decisions you made.

Two thumbs way ways up, definitely recommend
