CommandHQ was THE multiplayer game to play... it might also have been the first multiplayer game to play... Wish they'd do a good remake of that.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

I never played Command HQ, but I've heard of it.

    For multiplayer, Bolo beats it.

The only bolo that I can think of was an apple 2 game where you were flying around shooting things and it had a rotating turret... But I don't remember there being any multiplayer. If it had it, it was hotseat.

This wasn't an Apple II game.

Bolo was for the BBC Mirco and then Macintosh.

Up to 16 players in a real-time game. Because of the way the networking protocol worked, 16 was really only workable on a LAN (AppleTalk). With low latency (for all clients), TCP Internet games of 8 players were common. Data passed in a ring topology - there was no server, only clients.

It was a surprisingly good game. It rewarded, beyond any other game I've ever played, communication and good team play. Simple gameplay. Resource management. Players could switch teams on-the-fly. Rich tactics. Deep strategy.
