Thread: Trading games

I'm essentially looking for a trading game that it's no problem if I pause, alt tab, do productive stuff for a while, and then several hours later wonder if Chrome has a memory leak again. Also, the more in depth trading I can do the better (that's not elite dangerous; large game budget went to TW3). Basically if I could have the depth of trading in Eve but with pausing...

I'm kind of thinking of Port Royale or Patrician, but I'm not sure about those.

I've tried:

• Recettear: loved it, but something new would be nice
• Merchants of Kaidan: too simplistic, and it gets too easy too quickly (Inverse Eve difficulty scale)
• Pirates (the late 90s version): fun, but controller support is meh (the minigames really need a controller) and trading is simple
• Smugglers V: reallllllllllllllllllllly glad I picked this up for next to nothing
• Eve: lacks pause button

Some of us SsTers have been having fun with windward. Same type of game as Sid Meyers pirates but without the swordfights or land battles.

Talkos plays those types of games, he might have some good recommendations

Patrician 3 has trading, pirates and pirating, building and etc. I find it challenging and have only 65 hours playing and feel I've only scratched the surface.

Anno 2070 or 1404. I think it's called Dawn of Discovery in Steam. 2205 is coming out soon.

From Steam reviews, it looks like the way to go is Patrician 3 not 4?
