Re: Minecraft
made a Few Final Improvements on the Blaze EXP farm. just need More Diorite to fancy it up some. Put down some minecart tracks to the jungles and Ice biomes to the east. and....minecarts break the server?
Whats the Deal with Server Performance?
Whats the cause such Glaring Lag on our server?
WE pre-generated the map and that made a noticeable improvement but the server is still super duper laggy Especially minecarts and the like.
-playing Solo lag creeps in every now and then but nothing too jarring.
-Minecarts, boats and any mounted animal.... they lagg on the server so bad that its actually faster to walk...
-Combat also shows the lag with mobs jerking around and hitting you even if you look like your far enough away.
- Going thru a portal(where you spawn in half inside the block and it takes the server a few seconds to catch up and put you in the proper space_)
-2-3 people on the server the server lags almost constantly. there is regularly intermittent server lag of about 10 seconds.
Just played on a server with 12 people running around minecarting thru the nether hub etc automated farms and redstone running all over the place
and it was silky smooth.

Re: Minecraft
I wonder if it has to do with drive speed................................ I could move the server over to the boot SSD.
But I have another idea I'm kicking around. Keep eyes on things over the next 2-3 days.

Re: Minecraft
Server will be coming down tomorrow for as much as an hour or two. I really think we're running into a spindle contention issue because minecraft has a TON of drive use. So rather than fight with it I just bought a hosted minecraft server. I have bukkit running on it and dynmap as well. Worldedit is also installed. If there are specific mods anyone wants to look at we can do so easier and faster on this hosted instance.
Tomorrow I will be moving our world to the new server and turning it up and pulling it from the primary TPG box.

Re: Minecraft
I would Love to set up a Fresh World using MCedit. I could import a few things into a nice server spawn location and then set up a Few Basics to get Everyone Started. then Hand the World Files Over to you to put back up on the server.
With World Edit and Op creative I could quickly rebuild any farms and progress that would have been lost.
