What are you playing? (Single-Player Games)

I know we've had a thread like this in the past, but I couldn't find it and didn't want to go super far back - so I thought I'd start a new one.

What Single Player games are you currently playing or have recently played?

I played Wolfenstein The Old Blood a few weeks back, that one was a lot of fun. It expanded on The New Order in terms of mechanics, allowing for a bit more stealth than TNO, but still giving you tons of nazis to crush with big guns as well. I liked the game for the most part (save for a few small annoying parts like the dog boss) and I was impressed by the length. I ended up getting about 8 hours out of it which is not bad in my mind for a DLC.

I also just finished Dishonored this weekend for the first time. That was a really fun game too. I ended up going mostly stealthy and non-lethal and got the lightest (least horrible) ending from what I gather. I liked the story, the levels, the characters, and most of all the lore of the world they built. I'm really excited to see how they expand upon everything in Dishonored 2.

    *Potential Dishonored Spoiler*
Was killing Granny rags mandatory? When I came across her about to kill Slackjaw in the sewers, the objective was to get the key off of her for the sewer. As soon as I nabbed the key, she started attacking me and I had to kill her. I was hoping that there would be some reveal about who she was and how her powers were linked to the Outsider, but I didn't feel like going back and trying again.

I have to say, my favorite part of the game was when I was fighting the order of assassin dudes at their base and you had to blink around, slowing time, zig-zagging back and forth, while they were all dong the same. So much fun.
    *End Dishonored Spoiler*

I just started Dragon Age Inquisition this weekend and I'm floored by how good it is so far. I loved Dragon Age Origins (Though I only just finished it this summer) and I'm a huge fan of BioWare, even with their fumbling over Mass Effect 3s ending. I'd say a good portion of my favorite gaming memories come from either Kotor, ME1,2,3, and DA:O - and I'm so looking forward to really lettering into Inquisition.

I'm also amidst playing Far Cry 4 - I'm probably 25-30% through the story, though there's so much to do that everytime I hop back in game, I don't really accomplish anything that progresses the story lol. That's how I was with FC3 though, I'd play a bit, go play another game, then come back later and play some more. I'll finish it eventually.

    So...What are YOU playing?

Did you play DA 2? I really liked DA:O but I didn't care for 2 so much. I ended up not beating it, just cause I wasn't really getting into the story or the combat like I did for the first game(and then added to the fact that I got stuck in a fight I couldn't win, and just didn't care enough to redo what I've done already). Does Inquisition compare more to DA:O or DA2?

For me, I'm still trying to play Mad Max, but I'm not really enjoying it. It's not a bad game, just a bit boring. The story isn't that great, and the map/gameplay gets really repetitive really early on. It really doesn't live up to the Mad Max movie world.

Aside from that, I'm slowly making my way through Metal Gear 5. It's just so big and just so much to do it's taking forever to progress through the story and the side quests. But it's still a great MGS game.

That's a shame, I was hoping mad max would be amazing.

DA: inquisition is very much like origins but the combat is a little more involved. I didn't play DA2, but ive seen gameplay and Inquisition is superior in every way. Basically, it's the same as origins except you can't auto-attack, you manually do your basic attacks. Abilities are very much like in origins but they are more in depth and there's a deep potion/upgrade/modification system for abilities, items, armor, weapons, etc.

It's a tad more action oriented but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a hack n slash. Personally I love it. I feel is superior to origins in terms of gameplay - it took all the great parts and made them better.

Re: What are you playing? (Single-Player Games)

That's good, there was just something so different about the combat of 2I just idk I couldn't do it. I might buy it later when it's on sale and I can get one for my GF to co-op with.

As far as Max goes, yea it was a tad disappointing, but I was also expecting more. The car combat and customization is cool(and is actually worth a play through just for that), its just that to do all that you gotta earn levels and scrap. All the scrap yards are all the same, so you end up going to basically the same looking places over and over about 10 times per section getting scrap and beating up bad guys.

But for me what really killed it was the strongholds. You get strongholds in the different areas, and its basically like a home base. Each stronghold can be upgraded with stuff like water barrels, ammo benches, and maggot farm etc. So after you fully upgrade the first stronghold you never need anything anymore except more scrap. It fills your ammo, water, health, and gas when you enter the stronghold after the upgrades. And it even gives you scrap if you do the scavenger upgrade(it generates scrap for you while you're out of the game). So after that first stronghold the game lost that barren feeling of the Mad Max world. On top of the fact that gas can out in the world regenerate in some instances. I was just expecting more of a survival feel than what it offers.

    FTL

Dead Island: AA, graphics enhancements in general not working. Using DSR to use double my normal resolution work well enough.

    Don't Starve

    Alpha Protocol

    On dishonored:

It's not necessary to kill her. It's tricky, but you can get what you want and skadoodle without being spotted. I remember doing it once on my last full playthrough.

enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

You mean the fight with the Huge Chief Dude? Some characters, it's easier than others. The last time I played, I remember I had to kite A LOT.

Also about to spin up Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. I figured out that if I just set compatibility to XP, it'd run fine.

I've been meaning to do another playthrough of the whole series (though I might skip Dark Forces) but haven't gotten around to it. Such good games.

Dragon Age Inquisition though...this game is seriously blowing my mind. I don't know yet if it will maintain this caliber of brilliance throughout the duration of the game, but it is every bit as good as KotoR, ME, and DA:O. Bioware is back at its best

only game I've been playing is Forge of Empires... not strictly a single player game but you can play it like it is.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.
