I think I know the part that you are talking about.
The part that got me to stop playing doom 3 for a while was when you were going through one of those curved side access areas to get to the next room and a dude drops/hangs from the ceiling cause his feet are stuck and screeches "Help Me".

Man, it's so refreshing to play a story-lite Action FPS that controls and functions so smoothly. Ultra-Violence is certainly the difficulty the game was balanced around, so getting your ass handed to you because you didn't check for a Hell Knight before you backpedaled doesn't feel so punishing. Even when the fights get really heated I know that through careful health and ammo management I can come out bruised instead of dead.
