It's a lot of fun. I've only played it on Xbox back near launch, but I enjoyed it immensely. It's also fun to just watch someone else play. It'll look baller on a PC.

Got my Steam Link in today. Booted it up, made sure it worked, and did a network test on it. My setup is PC plugged into wireless extender -> wireless router on 5GHz channel -> ethernet plug into Steam Link. I get about 4.25ms network lag with a variance of 1.67ms. My computer is not nearly close enough for me to try plugging it directly into the router, so I don't know how low the ping can get.

Regardless, it's not something I would want to play a fighter or twitch shooter on, but everything else should play more than well enough.

Mine came in today as well. I will hook it up here in a few minutes to try it out. If it rocks I will buy another to have a spare if this one goes out.

It will highly depend on your network. If anything is in physical range of the router, plug it in. If you have to use wireless, use the 5 GHz channel, assuming you have one. Also, pick the highest available wireless channel to get just that little bit more performance out of it. If you have the hardware that supports it, make sure hardware encoding is turned on.

I think those are all the main performance things to keep in mind.

Mine worked pretty well on WiFi, but I'm only a room away so of course it would. Now I just need to get a new controller. My ps3 won't connect via Bluetooth, and I can't get virtualhere to find my Link.

This thing is amazing. I get better streaming with it then when I used the laptop.

I am definitely buying a 2nd one for a backup in case Valve discontinues it.
