damn this game is pretty fun, spent 4 hours today on it, and only just got to Megaton.
Favorite moment though was the first time i did the Escape Quest and ended up blowing the head off of the Overseer, had to restart though as the girl ain't to keen on that

Re: Fallout: 3 *wo0t*
I take back what I said about mods. I did some more digging tonight, and there's apparently a big mod/tweak pack over on the official FO3 mod forums that sounds freaking amazing.
Basically, it's a realism/consistency mod pack that focuses on making the game more realistic (therefore harder) and making it more like the original Fallout games... just what I've been looking for. Some things of note:
- Weight capacity significantly reduced. It starts at 25lb base instead of 150lb (150lb, wtf?), but you gain more weight allowance per Strength, so that by 9 or 10 Strength you can carry more than you would in vanilla.
- More shooter-like. Weapon spread is different and there's less auto-aim involved. You can still use VATS, but if you're fighting real-time, it plays more like an actual shooter.
- New Sprint and Bullet-Time abilities which use Action Points, along with new perks to improve these abilities. Sprint allows you to move very fast if you holster your weapon, making it good for getting into fights as melee or escaping fights; perks allow you to sprint with your weapon out and eventually charge your enemy, knocking them down.
- Food, water, and sleep become important (optional, however.) If you enable this part, your character needs food, water, and adequate sleep or you'll suffer. You can now carry around a bedroll, portable stove, water purifier, and things like that to faciliate these needs.
- Medicine skill is more important, and crippled limbs are not trivial. More like the original FO games, in other words.
- Weapons are rebalanced and have more realistic ballistics. Rounds fired from pistols have a relatively short range and slow speed; bullets from rifles are much faster and more accurate. Lasers are very fast, very accurate, and have a very long range but ammo capacity for those weapons is greatly decreased.
- Weapons and armor degrade more slowly and repairing them is much easier; you no longer need an exact duplicate and sometimes they can be repaired with just random spare parts. For example, crafted weapons can now be repaired with component parts.
- Stats matter more, much like in the original game. High perception makes long-range combat easier, while low perception impacts your accuracy. Charisma determines how many companions you can have.
- Tag skills actually matter again. All skills start lower and tag skills only receive a +10 bonus, but receive 2 points per skill point instead.
- Some weapons from the original Fallout game make a return (with appropriate tweaks) including the 14mm Pistol, FN FAL, and P90. I'm really hoping the .223 Pistol is included in this list... damn I loved that thing.
- Up to 20 alternate starting locations, allowing more immersive roleplaying opportunities. Some of these locations even prevent you from doing the main quest!
Basically, it sounds like something that's right up my alley. Mods sound like they're a bit of a pain in the ass to install and compatibility issues may arise, but I'm gonna see if I can give it a whirl sometime tomorrow, even if it means I'll have to start over again. Apparently the mod pack is compatible with the Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, and Broken Steel DLCs. Point Lookout isn't mentioned, so it may not be compatible.
I'll post a link when I get home tomorrow.

Re: Fallout: 3 *wo0t*
if only the 1.5 patch hadn't caused so many issues for me (ctd, the vats slowdown, vats showing 0% to hit no matter what the actual chances are)
With that said if bethesda could fix those bugs I'd probably play this game all day if I could get away with it

Re: Fallout: 3 *wo0t*
I get all my single-player games on the Xbox 360, meaning I get no errors or crap like that
Beat the game 5 times(exploring everything extensively) and its still going strong for me, not even gotten any DLC yet. I swear I discover something new each time...
