Future of BattleField
I was just curious to know what where you all think the Battlefield series will go from here. I have heard and read other forms about possibly Battlefield going to Medieval times with cannons, bows and swords. But I think that would take away from how the game was designed and feels to play. I have been a Battlefield fan since the first release of battlefield 1942, playing all the succeeding games, excluding 2142.... (not much in to mech wars) So imagination would be nice. I'm kinda at a loss to figure out where they will take this or even take it at all. All I know is the Battlefield series completely changed the standards for any first person shooter... Nothing can compare to BF in my opinion, and I'd like to see more games in the future..(that are not futuristic)
Let me know what you all think :9

Re: Future of BattleField
Battlefield 3 has been rumored, we will see. A continuation of BF2 is what I am looking for.
I dont care about ION cannons, I dont care about monsters, walkers, etc.
I am talking including the MK-19 on top of Humvees, deployable mortar teams, civilian casualties, destructible environments, spies for the other team.

Re: Future of BattleField
I'd like the modern times as well, just MORE weapons, instead of adding a gay exxtra specops CD you have to buy, that few people actually do, just put a ton of stuff in the main game and increase the price a bit.
After all, what is $50 for a regular game compared to $80 for more maps and weapons for us who are freaks and play more than a few times a week.
I want the Mi-24, ZSU23-4s, SCUDs, MLRS, and user based rocket/artillery systems, like in BF1942 how a sniper can spot and a random soldier can balliistically target his rockets to that coordinate by trial and error, that was fun!
I want more tanks, T-72s, T-80, BRDM, BMPs etc... SA-9 vehicles. I also like Desert Combat's idea of making a person a portable manpad SA-7 launcher with a submachine gun. The idea that AA is stationary is so 90s.
I want Sheridans, M60tanks, littlebirds, hueys, harriers and C-130s (naturally).
I also want colored smoke so players can pop smoke to mark a bomb spot, or perhaps a laser designator for SquadLeaders. Taht would stop friendly fire and make better bomb targets.
Little Remy.....somewhere behind Big Remy, taking the RPG rocket meant for him.

I also agree with what Clint said. I remember playing BF1942 where you use to be able to move the aircraft carrier and use Destroyer ships.. There was an actual map, dedicated to naval battles. that would be sweet to see. Submarines and all! But, I would be down to play a medieval castle style Battlefield... I think riding on horse top could be lots of fun!

Re: Future of BattleField
BF2 was the formula that worked the best for EA in my opinion. I would like to see a mix of the good features in 2142 and some of the great gameplay and mechanics in BF2 to make an amalgamation something close to Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter but with the simulation side of the Battlefield franchise.
Things I would like to see in the alleged BF3 to have the BatNET system in place as well as the 2142 scoring system for squad orders. I would also like to see a bunch new armors and fast attacks based on current designs in development with their own twists on them.
