They Hunger!
Just mentioning these maps/mods, since there's a few other zombie-inspired games being mentioned lately. There hasn't been much activity related to TH4 on their site, so I'm hoping they're still continuing development. Even if they aren't, the first three maps/mods in the series and USS Darkstar - all for the original Half-Life - are definitely worth playing if you don't mind playing an older game. They were stellar maps for their time, though I imagine they'd be pretty primitive to my eye if I went back and played through them again now.
The developer's website can be found here.

Wow, do they know nothing about how to properly set images on the web? Making a SS into a background and the first one a link back is just stupid. I can see no benefit what so ever in setting their SS as backgrounds like that as it looks horrible and you don't get anything more out of it. It'd be better to just have 1 single SS at a larger size so you can see the details better.
As for the game itself, it does look interesting seeing as how you are in the past where most games with zombies tend to be more current or futuristic.

Re: They Hunger!
If you can stomach the dated engine and lower-quality... everything... then it's definitely worth going back and playing the first three entries into the series on the Half-Life engine. I played them back when they first came out (usually about a month after they were released, respectively - I got all three off of PC Gamer discs), and they were damned scary. Probably not so much since HL2 and Doom3 raised the bar in that regard, but I remember them being plenty of fun.
There was a another HUGE mod I really liked for the HL engine, something like 400MB back when 400MB was a ton for a mod (hell, it kinda still is - Metastasis is a pretty big map-pack and it's only a svelte 150.) It was divided into three parts, each in a unique locale. I'll have to see if I can't scare it up.

Re: They Hunger!
This is mentioned in this month's PCG, seems that it's set for a 2008 release, and they're planning on releasing an "Episode 0" teaser that outlines the plot and introduces you to the general gameplay style a few months in advance of the complete release. I'm not sure if this will be a normal game or if it'll be a mod - their past productions were commissioned by PCG or other companies, but this one appears to be entirely of their own volition, which I take to mean we're going to be buying it off Steam or retail.
Apparently, there will be no HUD; you'll use Q to look at your wristwatch/HP, and you'll physically inspect a weapon's magazine to see how much ammunition you have. You'll also use iron sights (if available) for aiming. No word on how much ammo and weaponry you can carry, but if they're going for the immersive-realism deal, I'd imagine it'll be limited to a major weapon (rifle, shotgun, etc), a sidearm and/or melee weapon, and other gadgets. This is just speculation, though.
Hoping it comes out relatively soon so that the wait for L4D (which is slated for Q3 2008) will be less frustrating.
