The real problem with TS vs VoIP for most people isn't a PC resource issue.

It is about playing on a server with god only knows who else. If I join a server I would have to find out what TS server folks were using. Well, 3 clan members are thier TS server and 2 people are in Vent and 2 guys don't have either. So I join the 3 clan members for 2 rounds. They have a WoW raid (or what ever) to go to so They quit. Now I have to figure out who is on what again. Now we got 2 people each in thier own Vent server one guy on TS but he is talking to his sister on it etc etc etc

It is just WAY too much a pain in the butt.

In game VoIP is so much easier, no need to worry about all that crud.

I have a lot of games on my PC that run just perfectly fine with TS and Xfire, and other crap in the background.

People aren't going to want to connect to a TTP server, then tab out and boot up Ventrilo (because Teamspeak sucks and everyone knows it), get everything set up, and... ugh. Too much work, beyond the fact that red team could hop into blue team's chat and "spy" on their voice comms.

And you're even assuming people read the message of the day box when joining the server. We kick out enough people that don't squad up in 2142 that I can assure you plenty of people don't.
