360 controller question! (Audio)

So i heard the 360 controller has a "Headset jack" and from what I see the audio (headphone) portion is a standard jack. Does this mean I can plus a standard set of headphones into the jack and have it work? I'd test it but I am borrowing a buddies 360 during the 2nd wisdom tooth recovery. Please advise, and thanks!

you wont get any sound out of the headphone jack on the controller unless you have the special wireless headset that Microsoft makes you pay 60 bucks for to use it.

Hrmm... well here is the situation. I am using my buddies 360, he has it hooked up a 19" LCD monitor that has speakers. The cable he uses has the monitor hook up and a R/Y (RCA type audio) cable he runs thru a little converter that turn the R/Y into headphone (for his onboard monitor speakers). Works great, but I have a monitor I am going to use that has no audio, so i thought HEADPHONES!!! ... I was at the local computer palace and couldnt seem to find a female R/Y (RCA Type) to female headphone jack.... I know there are some out there, but I don't want to go on a goose hunt. So... any solutions?

If there are none I am going to be cutting, soldering, heat shrinking my own!
