interesting, it looks as if outerlight is doing some testing on a new game, hopefully the sequel to the The Ship

The ship is a game where......you're on a ship.

This guy traps everyone on the ship. You have a target to kill. Someone is trying to kill you. Find weapons onboard the ship to kill your target.

The gameplay is balanced between finding someone where there's no security or cameras, taking care of basic needs (eating, sleeping, bathroom, shower), and not getting killed.


It's a very different game.

That concept reminds me of RISK.

It sounds like a round of that would be extremely slow though... you take care of basic needs and just try to seek out the one person you have to kill? What do you really DO while you wait/look?

The rounds don't take as long as you'd think since the "needs" are somewhat underplayed, usually you try to find your mark asap.

not really, as grave said needs don't play that much but they have a habbit of popping up enough to make you sweat. Also you aren't just seeking out the person you have to kill but you're trying to keep the person trying to kill you from killing you.

Plus you can't just run up to someone and hack them. Players can defend themselves against their attacked so you have to figure out when the right time to strike is.

Plus the most popular game mode, Hunt, involves getting over a certain amount of money. You earn money by killing your mark with a weapon. While it sounds easy, each round different weapons have different amount of money you are paid for killing the mark with that weapon. An Axe may be worth $2000 one round and $1 the next.

Mind you don't want to die or get caught because finding a good weapon can become problematic at times plus many are found in areas without guards or cameras (aka the place your hunter wants you to be in)

Great concept but a very archaic game engine. Hopefully with the sequels, the game will look and feel better with a wider array of interactive objects/scenery.
