I think vats is intended to please the more RPG based fans (Fall out 1 and 2 were rpg I think?) You can use it as your primary means of defense easy but like a real RPG if the enemy is levels above you your not going to hit anything and do little damage while using it...
be prepared. its not called the apocalypse for shiggles.

i have a fat man kept in stock for such an occasion. one nuke, many kills.

Re: Picked up Fallout 3 - Now addicted!!

I think I killed the replay value of this game.

I explored absolutely every nook and cranny, found every location, killed basically everyone except children, and enjoyed watching Fawkes kill everything else in sight. My character has 20,000 CAPS in his pocket and 70% of the bobbleheads. I'm bored.

And I don't forsee any different experience if I choose a different set of skills to master, or areas to progress in. This first time, I built up medicine, science and energy weapons as my main 3. Lock pick and big guns were a close second. Speech, barter and small guns were the next group. Lots of people do small guns and lock pick and intelligence as their chosen professions. You don't really make use of energy weapons till you engage the Talon Company or the Enclave. Since I started my game with the exploration of downtown DC, the energy weapon skill came in very handy. Vaporizing super mutants came in handy.

But all this to say, I don't feel at all like playing the game again, this time doing what the masses did and going to megaton first, and maxing out the small guns skill and living in a suite in Tenpenny Tower.

Any one else feel the game is just saturated all hope of replay value? Or is just me?

Its great game oblivion + apoc - oblivion sucky parts = Fallout 3
If you have not played Fallout 2 id try it. It is dated but it is very fun if u like rpgs
The Anchorage official Extension is OK but Google Fallout 3 Nexus for an awesome mod community.
Here is just a sample of what I have got.

i played this game an hated it the main story line was way too short and i dont cair for side missions bc they have nothing to do with your main goal
which happen to change every mission

over it was an ok play. i though it became too easy after i had falx dogmeat and this other chick following me with my telsa armor on we rape every nook and crany of downtown dc before i gave up and deleted the files from my pc to make room for L4D
