Thread: Do used games hurt the industry?

It's an interesting point. That i mostly agree with. Its really a way for a store to make money off of something they already sold. But really it is hurting the money going to back to the game developers.

And i think renting hurts the industry as well.

The game industry likes bitching about everything. They keep blaming everything under the sun for their current sad state of affairs.

They should take a good, long look at their own industry instead of blaming outside events.

Actually if you look at the stocks the industry seems to be recession proof. Since people are staying home more often.

Really? Give some numbers there...

EA is down to 16.31 down from a year high of 55.
Nintendo is at 35.25 down from a year high of 74
Gamestop is at 26.92 down from a year high of 59

The industry is hurting in this economy. Most of the companies have lost damn near 50% of their value.

*shrug* I just wish that the gaming industry would examine the real causes of their bad luck instead of blaming it on all these random tangential things.

While here in bestbuy in our store, we've seen an increase in video game sales and a decrease in larger item sales. Like large Appliances.

Next the Detroit automakers are going to blame the classifieds for ruining the big 3 because of auto resales. :P

The US current economy and EA's crappy ass games are ruining the industry.

The game industry is shedding jobs at an astounding rate. Just peruse the "layoffs" tag from Kotaku.

That's fine, but this debate was about the game publishers and developers, not about the retailers.
