Re: Command and Conquer
Yea, renegade was by far my favorite for the longest time.. I still go back and play it (some server mods are super fun, they don't distract from gameplay too much, and lock your vehicle to you.. etc)
First decade is like... ok. It was how I got into C&C. I beat all the GDI missions, not all the Nod. Didn't touch the expansion pack... Once you're used to the "easier" more modern type ones, not being able to hotkey certain functions or groups of characters gets annoying.
RA1 = Play it Nao. Great Game. And agreed, nod is OP if you spam tesla soldiers + coils haha. Although GDI has those roaming radar jammers...
RA2 = Great storyline (sort of)
Yuri's Revenge = My Favorite. Like it was said earlier, it had a bunch of missions where you just destroy insanely huge bases, but some of it's missions are very unique.
Renegade = ^ nuff said.
Generals = Played it for the first time on the "first decade" and it's like RA2 on roids. Great graphics.. new strategies, but it could have used some improvements imo. Not to steer you away from it, it's still great!

Just about every C&C game they have cranked out has been down right amazing, but you need to start with the orginal. Go to the roots and branch out. I had alot of trouble starting with new games then playing the older ones and dealing with the lower graphics.

Allies were great in RA2 if you knew how to use them. The best way to use allies to counter the Telsa coils/tanks is to build an army of Chrono Legionares and make them Chrono Tanks. They are insanely bad ass and have awesome range and take a few hits once you put them in the Tanks.
I need to install C&C decades again and see if it will work at all on W7. Definitely great games though all around.

Re: Command and Conquer
I think he was referring to the blatantly overpowered soviet tesla coil and the matching tesla troopers that came in the expansion in RA1. Those were ridiculous. In RA2 they gave the allies something to match and made a more balanced game overall. Though I still hate prism tanks from RA2.

Re: Command and Conquer
For all the games before Generals the best way to start is, consturction yard, power plant, then 3 refinories. You have to spend money to make it and you want the money to flowing in by the truck load. Building like theres gonna be a Russian invation is a sound plan but remeber to keep the enemy in check. Don't just let them go without occational strikes or they will build masses and flood your base on regular intervals. Send out stratigic strikes, depending on the game, air power is best. Hit them where it hurts, in the wallet. Harvesters and refinories are very expensive. Ussually 1,500 hav. 3,000 ref. Some major dollards that gets diverted form tanks. Also don't be afraid to loose men. Send in a few apc's packed with Engis into the enemies base. Grab whatever you can and sell. SNATCH AND RUN!!!!!!
