Re: Company of Heroes: Possible if bad at real-time strategy?
One of the differences that separates this game from other RTS (such as the Age of Empires Series), is that you cant just go into the game and randomly make units, send them wherever, and expect to win. Strategies must be followed to the letter if you want to be successful. Obviously on the fly decisons must be made, but they shouldnt deviate too far from your original plan.
depending on the map, you should go into the game with 2-3 strats in mind, and once you scout the enemy, and find out what they are doing, you narrow your unit build down to certain units.
This game does require more micro than most RTS, but learning shortcut keys and using them in matches, even if they slow you down at first, will give you ridiculous amounts of speed, which should eliminate any micro problems due to a player being slow.
It takes a while to learn the game, but it's hella fun, especially if you and your team formulate a plan before hand, which you usually see in comp stomps. (ie: having a player specifically go artillery for the allies....always fun with 8 howitzers raining down before the foot soldiers go in. :4
