Of course the other way to look at it would be. They could have made a level 30 game that lasted exactly as long as the first playthrough. Then they decided to do a little extra work so we could enjoy even more Borderlands into level 50 with more challenges and better items.

I mean, if the game lasted 30 levels and then ended no one would be complaining that it didn't have an extra 20 levels. Its kind of weird.

If that we're the case then the ending would have been something worth playing to. Something to make you want more, but all it did was ruin the game for me cause of how weak it was.

I'll agree with you that the ending was way weak.

You guys should check out Demon's Souls. Your first round through the game is like a 20 hour tutorial. Then when you pick up New Game+ is where you start banging your head against the wall trying to catch up to the skill jump.

Then why have a story if the meat of game is the 2nd play through? It defeats the purpose of it. You play Rpgs to play events in the eyes of a character, not to become the character. It's the story that makes games like these do able. If I wanted to beat 'em up and level up, I'd play TF2 or Bf2 where there is no real story.

Got to agree with you Adre, even with completing every single quest in the game beyond expectations, I only made it to lvl 35 for my second playthrough, and the experience you get from some mobs is pathetic.

I good RPG should have enough content to get you to the top level by the end of the game without playing through it again.

And I wouldn't mind a second run through if they changed things up, but everything is the same. There may be one or two more bad guys, but if you compare it to the first run through its the same dmg:lvl ratio that was in the 1st play through. All they'd have to do is reskin the levels, change the bosses, and and have the enemy level adapt to yours(always being 2-3 lvls ahead). Then it would be worth it.

Look at the original Mario game. 2nd play through on that was worth it, and all they did was switch out the bad guys and randomize some of the level layouts(Same with the original Zelda).

With that said I'll still be playing through it twice with Smoken and Ira(as long as they keep playing ). The game is still fun, but this is a huge let down and almost ruins the game for me.

Well they were supposed to have a persistent quest generation system, like the guns are for instance. But I guess it was scrapped cause the consoles couldn't handle it.

If you don't believe me look up Game Informer Issue 173, Borderlands was the cover story.

    Oh and by the way....

Doesn't Lilth look surprisingly different? Almost like someone else in the story?

Blizzard's Diablo II would beg to differ.

Squaresoft's Final Fantasy games would also disagree with hitting max level by the end.
