Yahtzee summed up the issues with sequels in his review of Bioshock 2 quite well. They're either derivative shit made to milk more money out of a popular game (Bioshock 2 was this), or they're unrelated to the original (like Silent Hill compared to Silent Hill 2.)

I hold high hopes for duex ex tho. If you want to milk it you need to release quickly so people are still hyped on the first so they impulse buy the 2nd. Theres years between each Duex game...
