Re: E3 2010 Discussion Topic
Miyamoto mentioned that they didn't want to talk about Pikmin right next to big releases like Zelda and Metroid for fear that it would be overlooked and forgotten, so he at least had a reason.
Still, this E3 was great for nearly everything else. Personally I'm not very interested in this motion control buzz, but a lot of the other new games look magnificent.

Yeah...Sony is definitely the worse offender for completely mimicking Nintendo's motion control, since they think that's why the Wii supposedly prints money. We'll see how successful that turns out to be. Maybe it'll work out, but I've got doubts about it. At least Microsoft's Kinect still brings something generally new to the table.

Yeah, the only reason I'm excited about the move is that I think that it has the potential to finally create good core motion games. Something that nintendo (and from the looks of it microsoft) has pretty much forsaken in favor of shovelware titles that involve mindlessly shaking the wii remote (or in the case of kinect, your body).

True. Nintendo does at least have some good titles coming in the future, but I've never heard the word "shovelware" more than in the last 3-4 years...and nearly all referring to the Wii. Sony's games have still been mostly solid this generation, but their console hasn't really done anything to innovate, and when it came out the PS3 was very overpriced. Hopefully there will be some better business direction from them now.

From what I've seen from working in a video game store is a definite increase in PS3 purchases now that they have lowered the price to 299.99. However, there are now more complaints than ever that the PS3 no longer does backwards compatibility.
