Red Faction: Guerilla
This game is a third person shooter on PC/XBOX360/PS3. You are a mining engineering, new to Mars, whose brother is gunned down in front of your eyes by the oppressive EDF, who is attempting to press all free colonists into virtual slavery. You take up the Red Faction's cause and work to liberate each sector from the EDF. It's nonlinear, similar to Saints Row 2 (same development house made both of those games), so you pick what missions to do. You'll also see many minor, medium, and major targets dotted around the map. These will be EDF assets and buildings that you can blow up to reduce their control in the sector. Once you've erased EDF control in the sector you will be able to complete the 2-4 major missions for the sector, which are pretty inventive and very well done. Every building in the game is destructible. You can plaster a ton of demolition charges to a dumptruck, drive it into a building, and blow the whole place to hell. You can get a rocket launcher and shoot down smokestacks from a nearby mountain while you try to dodge return fire. You can just lay the whole place to waste with your sledgehammer if you really want to. You can drive through a guardpost in a jeep with mounted machineguns, blast the guards, and blaze across the martian wasteland as some pretty decent AI tries to chase you down in their own vehicles.
Blowing up random EDF stuff as they try to hunt you down and kill you is pretty cool, but the missions are nice, too. It's like they took all of the most fun missions from any FPS, removed all the stupid ones that get too frustrating. You might get killed a bunch, but it's almost always a good time. You can meet up with other colonists for a raid on an EDF base, fend off EDF from a raid on a faction safehouse, chase down a courier, hijack a specific enemy vehicle, blow up a convoy, try to demolish a building with a particular set of implements, ride shotgun with someone and try to commit a certain amount of property damage, get a vehicle from one point to another in a set amount of time (transporter), try to rescue hostages from a given building, and other types of missions. It's pretty damn fun.
I love FPS and the third person doesn't bug me. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since TF2 came out. I haven't bothered with multiplayer yet, but it looks like it might be neat, and there's a co-op mode that I hear is really fun.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html

Kyle is right, this game is awesome. It's like GTA4 on Mars, with more explosions and you're blowing up buildings and trying to dodge the wreckage as it falls around you. Blowing up bridges and shit while enemy troops try to drive across and storm your base. Dodging car bombs driven by your own teammates as you all try to blow up an EDF building. Ramping over the 10 cars trying to head you off after you blow up a major objective. Laying booby traps using placed charges that you can use to cut off escape as you rocket towards a safe house. This game is the best!

I haven't played the regular game but a kid at school had it and there's a fun multiplayer mode whee you try to outdo each other destruction-wise. You take turns with the same weapon in the same area and just go at it, it's a blast.
