    Elemental: War of Magic

This game came out on the 24th. It is 50 bucks and not worth it in my opinion. You have a one section 'campaign' which you can finish in one sitting. No tutorial really to it, and the user interaction is poor at best. It's a strategy game much like the old Heroes games. You build up a town and wonder around collecting resources until you build up enough of an army that you can destroy the other guys or what-not. Seems to have a little bit of a Black&White influence too as you can win by controlling the majority influence I believe. It has random maps and multiplayer capability as well as modding, but the lack of the campaign that is supposedly 'to be released' at a later date ruins the game for that price range. If it was 30 dollars it wouldn't be such an issue, but for what they were announcing and such, it really did not live up to it. If anyone else has played it I would like to hear from some of ya'll about what you think.

I had such high hopes for this game .

The campaign is a glorified tutorial, but more "coming soon". The gameplay is a bit lacking, the AI is weak, and the interface still leaves much to be desired. The game doesn't feel complete in the slightest.

It shows a lot of promise and Stardock is very good about updating games years after they are released with new content, better AI, etc. So while the game plays like crap now, I expect it to be good in 6 months and better 6 months from then. I do think this is going to be the last Stardock game I buy on release day, though. I'll just buy it at reduced price a year after release when it's "done".

Having people pay full price to beta test your game generally isn't a good idea if you want to build a good reputation :P

I couldn't even get it on release day. They didn't ship it until after the release day...so you had to download it from them or wait for the stores to actually get it....

And I agree that I had high hopes, but it kinda ....let me down.

And apparently the game crashes constantly on a regular basis, so save often -_-...

If you like the Heroes of Might and Magic games then you should check out the King's Bounty series. The battles are all obvious "homages" of the HOMM series (kind of like Titan Quest was of Diablo2) but it gets away from HOMM's stilted "build a castle, schedule many heroes moving in turn-based fashion" and goes to a real-time "You have one hero and if they need more troops they walk over to the castle and get them" in real-time. I am having a lot of fun with it. The latest one is "King's Bounty: Armored Princess" but fortunately I am secure enough in my masculinity to ignore the jibes I get when it comes up on my friends list because it's a lot of fun. It's also bug free with a catchy soundtrack, and like $30.
