I am torn on this one. On one hand I hate to support a game/developer that can't get basic shit right, but on the other hand BC2 is a great game both graphically and technically if it only had working VOIP. So, do we throw the baby out with the bath water, or do we use the means we already have to compensate for shitty developers. Based on the fact that there have been few new games come out worth hosting recently, and I see very few on the horizon, I am at least for giving it a go to see if we can make it work. Easy enough to turn them right back off.

These questions are in regard to the upcoming release of the exp pack BFBC2: VIETNAM
Top Questions of the week:
Do you have any set price or release date for Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam?
At this moment we don't have any information on the pricing. There will be more information on BFBC2:Vietnam the closer we get to a release date.
Why no Mod-tools for Battlefield Bad Company 2?
There is a very good post by Mikael Kalms in the forums about this here.
How come VOIP is still not working? Are you planning a fix?
Yes there is a problem with VOIP and we are aware of it. There are things we are working on at the moment and whilst we want to solve VOIP we are currently concentrating on the Hitbox issue first.

Re: If TPG had a Bad Company 2 server and a public TS instance
The trouble with a poll like this is, the numbers get scewed by voters that do not play the game! Point of fact: Many of us have played, are playing, and will continue to play BC2 using a 3rd party com package. It works, and works well. Some of you act as though there has never been a game made without VOIP before.
For it's one fault; lack of VOIP; this game has been demonized here. However, at any given time there are literally millions of players online globally playing this game. Lack of VOIP does not deter them, they type in chat, or they use TS/Vent, whatever, but they manage to communicate in some fashion.
Please keep in mind the global aspect of this and other games. Not everybody can/will speak English.
It's a fun game to play, if you take the time and learn how to play it. It is not the pinnacle of perfection that we'd all ideally love to have, but I forsee future games being very similar, and possibly even better, as developers learn from the mistakes and correct the shortcomings.

So my understanding is this poll is a legit one. And yes I would play and help prime it during the weekends as I work second shift during the week.
But what I don't understand is with all the posts about TS/BC2 and having the admins say it will never happen, why now? What would change the admins minds about this all of a sudden?Last edited by Coyote Warlady; 09-28-10 at 10:57 AM.

Re: If TPG had a Bad Company 2 server and a public TS instance
I would play, I recently played a few rounds and remembered how good the game is.
I would HIGHLY prefer mumble, as it is such a small, simple and quick response time client.
Teamspeak and vent are garbage when compared to mumble.
I would play and help where I could IF the server is of better quality. Even in the later stages of the TPG server I had rubber-banding. My ping was always good, but the actual server had some issues (as reported be countless people). I will say it started getting better towards the later stages, but not GREAT.
