Discussion:
Is Kyle still going to do the subway?
I can take over if not.
depending on the type of station requirements are as follows:
Station A(single direction): underground 10wx10lx7h (BOX plot, not all of it would be used) with a 3wx5lx3h surface station
Station B(single direction): Underground 5wx12lx4h (BOX plot, most would be used) with a 3wx5lx3h surface station
Station B(Bi-directional): Underground 6wx12lx4h (BOX plot, most would be used) with Two 3wx5lx3h surface stations
Station A is 99% reliable but cannot be modified for bi-directional flow as easily as station B. I am not sure how much more space it would need.
Station B is 95% reliable based on my testing grounds and is extremely easy to have as a single direction station or bi-directional.
Next, I need help planning, where do you want stops? how to get there, etc...

I understand those concepts, yes.
The only time I would plan on using them is in returning the carts to the main station and this would use only 1 switch and 1 direction change per track. The rest of the time the carts would simply circle the circuit stopping shortly at each stop.
If you would like an on-demand system, the sub-stations would be larger and much more technical. This 'schedule' based system will keep things smooth.
Check original post for new sizing.Last edited by Sleepybean2; 01-09-11 at 04:35 PM.

Re: The Subway
no, I'm probably not going to do it. The server is laggy and minecarts barely work, if at all. Not worth the time and effort, and to top it off, I don't have the iron.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

I'm going to revamp the system we have from the mines to the keep, I've realised a few things about minecarts online that makes the systems I suggested not work as well. A 'bring your own cart' or 'cart sharing' system is the next best thing and the simplest, most reliable system. I'll get around to it here in a bit.
have patience with the system to the mine... I'm going to work on some track sections over the next few days. The outbound carts are what it's set up for right now but starting from the mine you should be able to make it inbound.Last edited by Sleepybean2; 01-17-11 at 05:20 AM.

The bar has been raised.
YouTube - Minecraft: fully automated minecart station + some extra stuff!
(Also, I'm in for helping with the rail system.)

I believe for this to work properly we'll have to wait for the new box. I've seen this and played around with some versions, I can work the redstone circuits well enough, keep working on the minecart system to the quarry though! I want to see if that one works. As far as sub stops, they have to be compact, so maybe push yourself to a booster or have a very small pressure plate system. Wood would allow us to send empty carts to the station and then we could have a button system to request a cart from the station, Stone may be desirable so carts stop at every station and empty ones get pushed to the next station after being bumped by the user...
