CoD black ops

so i was thinkin of buying black ops but things i was wondering can you pick your own servers un like cod 4 on 360 are there dedicated servers or are they game company run servers is it any good who plays it or should i just buy CoD 4 for half the price ?

consoles will never have dedicated servers, but I think the PC version does

Yes, the PC version has dedicated servers and is quite active. I've been able to find multiple servers under every list of filters I've placed.

I haven't seen any speed scoping so far, and the sniper rifles seem incredibly underpowered on the whole. Really, you're far more likely to be killed by one of the countless assault rifles or SMGs, which have virtually no recoil and can kill you in two shots. My favorite weapon type in shooters, the light machine guns, were nerfed all to hell. There are four total (under half of the number of individual ARs or SMGs)--And three of them by default have clips, and the single one with a chain (M60) is terrible. I get that the game isn't intended to perfectly represent reality, and I don't know everything about modern military specs, but an HK21 with a clip of 30 is baffling to me and I really don't see how that qualifies as an LMG or was even worth including in the game. You may as well give the WA2000 full auto and call it a shotgun or something.

Also, you will probably be killed by knives more than anything else. Doesn't matter that you're six feet away and just put two bullets into the dude.

Shattered hopes. Quickscoping is notably easier on consoles because of auto-aim, but PC definitely has its own list of balance issues to deal with. Blops is fun, but hard to take seriously.
