Well, this is a pisser. I'd like to help find a fix. I don't run Minecraft, and rarely run Windows, so I'm not sure I'm the guy. :)

As to where you got Java: you can get lots of stuff from there, but it seems like you got the JRE - which should be fine.

Are you trying to run minecraft.exe or minecraft.jar ?

OMG that took forever figure out how to fix. Ended up having to make a batch file and then implementing pathways so the batch file could work. Not pretty but it works.

Yeah my guess is somehow the JAVA_HOME environment variable got trashed along the way. (bad jre update?)

Don't know, I could run it through the browser and my laptop with no issues. Just not from desktop until I did the batch file. Now I got to learn the area and get use to mobs.
