In all honesty, after learning about the new items and finding some of them, they don't break the game like I expected - in fact, I'd say pretty much all of them make a lot more sense than some of the official Valve items (Sandman broke the game when it first came out and targe/sword make absolutely no sense for Demo.) Degreaser is horribly overpowered for Pyro, but that just means it probably needs a stronger counterbalance to the benefit it provides - faster weapon swapping is a fantastic idea for the Pyro, especially since it makes the puff-n-sting more viable and effective.

I hate all the random hats and medals and dumb shit that exist to fuck with the game's original art style, but I can't deny that it's an embarrassingly effective marketing ploy by Valve.

TF2 honestly feels pretty close to it did when I first took a break six or seven months ago. Global Agenda feels like an almost entirely different game than it did before the Sandstorm patch.
