It really doesn't. It has an extended trial, but that's not the same as being F2P. F2P means you have the entire game available, for free. It means the only time you spend money is to buy premium items, or things like XP boosters or other perks to reduce the grind for a given aspect of the game.

WoW just has a trial that's been extended. You still can't send tells to other players or use the AH, or many other features, because they'd then become extremely abusable by goldsellers and other things of that nature.

WoW is most definitely not using the F2P model.
