Thread: 1.8 Trailer

Thursday.

Aaand Jeb supposedly has pushed it back now. So who knows.

Got access to the leaked 1.8 and have been playing with Blakeman rob and crew on a server and it is friggin awesome.

My first day I found what I thought was a basic cave as they used to have a narrow tunnel down into the ground. Well it was one of the mineshafts and boy was it something. We spent 3 hours in it and maybe explored 15% of it and tamed 5% of it. A good thing about the mineshafts is that you are provided with tons of wood so you don't really need to worry about running out of torches or tools and such.

So long as you mind your supplies you do not need to make surface runs really ever. Which is really nice. The whole needing food can be irritating when you are particularly careful not to get hurt but again this is solved in the mines and caves by bringing dirt and seeds along and setting up basecamps as you go.

The random villages are neat. They only spawn a hand full of buildings but they are neat. The one we found had a forge a few small houses and a well. The forge had a pair of furnaces some lava for the glow and then a small interior. The well was hella deep, careful not to fall in with out a ladder or a friend to break down a wall for you.

I would note that the "leak" is official from mojang but still a "leak" btw.

I'm not going to upgrade the server until it's an official release though.

There were no citizens.

And I just followed the link sent to me over teamspeak so I have no idea about the leak one way or another. I presume that with their authentication system it would have to be ok'd.

NPCs will be in 1.9. They decided to split the 1.8 update into two separate updates.

Yeah they come flying at you if you do look at them. Pretty neat.
