09-16-11, 02:54 AM #1Mass Effect 2 DLCs!!!
So a few weeks back I purchased EVERY DLC that Bioware has released for ME2 and I have been absolutely blown away by many of these DLC missions, characters, and story arcs.
Shadow Broker and Arrival are absolutely incredible! These are by far the best updates to any game I have ever played. They fall within the domain of current ME2 events, but are so epic and demanding (concerning their events) that they function both as individual story arcs that simultaneously complete the larger story!
I heard somewhere that the improved combat system implemented as well as the level designs of both Shadow Broker and Arrival will be the main combat style/level design for ME3.
Anybody else pick up all these DLCs? They are well worth the money, though I wish there was some single purchase bundle where I could get all of them, it's sort of tedious buying them all throughout the mass effect 2 store.
What Decisions did you make in these DLC's?
***WARNING SPOILERS***
I have just finished up Arrival which was the last of the DLCs and all I can say is WOW! The single player stranded aspect to this DLC was done phenominally! They really made it challenging to the point where you felt that you were in a dire situation, but still made you feel like the BA Commander Shephard we've all come to know and love. At the end of this one I ended up sacrificing the Batarian Planet to destroy the Mass Relay to stop the Reapers. I have only played these DLCs once through so I am unsure as to what would have happened had I chosen not to destroy the planet. I heard and saw in the ME3 previews that Commander Shephard is standing on trial for murder, I assume this even is the focus/reason for his being charged.
In the OVerlord DLC, they did a really incredible job making a situation we've already seen in this series a little more fresh and emotionally charged. The way the brother manipulated his handicapped sibling was gut-wrenching even for a video game. I in the end chose for the brother to be taken off the overlord project and placed in the rehabilitation.
Right now I can't remember if Shadow Broker had any big decisions to make, but my God was he scary! That fight was nothing less than frightening and crazy and I love how his ship is now a visitable location with new missions and story arcs.
Kasumi's mission was a pretty sweet change of pace for the game and added a really cool twist with the Ball. I felt a genuine sense of espionage manipulating the various guests and guards to gain access to the various rooms and the detective work that followed. (as a vangaurd, the locust SMG that was available at the end is incredible as well)
in the Merc's mission, I chose to save the workers rather than chase down the target. The target got away and the Merc was pissed but I still was able to gain his loyalty through paragon persuasion.
Playing the game through with all the DLCs makes it seem like I'm playing a whole new game. Even the vanilla missions seem enriched, juxtaposed with all of the new ones. I am so excited for ME3 I literally can't wait. If any of you haven't played the ME2 DLCs they are so worth it, go buy them and play them nao!

Re: Mass Effect 2 DLCs!!!
I have played all of them except for the most recent one ( the Arrival one i think). There all really great. In terms of decisions I have two characters one paragon and one renegade. So, I do all the good choices with paragon and all the bad with the renegade and save often to do so. So far I've had a real great experience with all of them I just have gotten tired of the game recently. After beating it twice, I tried beating it on insanity and it wore down my interest in the game. Its wasn't the difficulty or deaths it was the amount of extra time it took to do the same mission. When the Mass Effect 3 release date comes closer, I'll finish all my play throughs and buy the last DLC.
