Re: RAGE!
I just finnished the game last night. i had none of that texture issue stuff been playing since release, im running two 580's thou but, even on a single it was fine.
i havent seen a game so beautiful since myst, its simply staggering the amout of art put in to this game. you wont see a single repeated rock or wall. the sound was tip-top if you got a .1 system turn up the BASS!!!
the trade off is its rather simple game play wise, replay value is maybe 2 runs. im sure they will come out with dlc and this might extend the life a bit.
if you got the money id give it a 7, but its not a must have ATM you could wait for a sale.
ADD: the parallels to borderlands is obvious, I really hate teh fact dev's always go to far thinking to far ahead in the storylines. both borderlands and rage didnt need to go the the extremes of aliens and crimsonlance or authority. both games could have just worked the post apocalyptic scavenging/ survival. theres really no need to add end game elements so soon.Last edited by 619summon; 10-07-11 at 12:23 PM.

Re: RAGE!
Jude, I have never seen a game render textures like that before so I figured it was some graphics card/GPU issue....
Regardless, this game is quite enticing to me. I loved Borderlands and this looks like a rated R version of that. I still think I'm going to wait for a sale though...

Re: RAGE!
Ok, piecing together what I've read about it, the way they have the texture and that was designed to lessen active ram use for loading textures on console so it would only load what you're looking at. The Nvidia card I believe had a in game option for GPU transcoding to aid in loading the textures fast when you looked around. According to the forums I read the game was actually reading 0 usable ram or something like that. What this patch did was in the video options it added a option to have a large Texture Cache to keep textures loaded when you look around as opposed to before where it would get rid of it when you looked away.
So now that this big problem I was having is fixed I've been enjoying playing this game, it's a little ported from console and runs better on Nvidia cards but I can think of worse games to spend money on. From what I've played of multi it's entirely throwaway, instead of classic id deathmatch, it's a car combat mode, but there is Co-op that I haven't checked out yet.

So far I am pretty impressed... I don't care that it doesn't support dual GPUs, but a single 570 seems to be doing the job pretty well. The artwork is simply amazing. I am only about an hour into the game, but so far, I like it. Not a perfect 10, but surely better than the disappointment I got from Doom 3.
Carmack and team are surely going in an interesting direction with how this game is programmed. Things will get better from this game engine as time goes on.

Re: RAGE!
Ok, beside all the techy stuff heres the breakdown on rage.
1- MAIN story is about 15-20 hours of GAMEPLAY
2- There are plenty of collectibles to get i.e - Cards, Recipes, - hidden throughout the game.
3- There is a number of side quests (see *-note* for side quest bug)
4- Multiplayer does not seem to have much re-play value, there is RACING RALLY, UN-TOLD STORIES and that is it.
5- There are plenty of 'games' i.e- card game, finger filet, etc. -
All in all, RAGE was a very fun game while it lasted.
My verdict: Good - Wait 'till sale -
-NOTE - Currently there is a bug that you CANNOT complete ANY side missions after entering SUBWAY TOWN (town 3 of 3) ANY side quests you want to get done in WELLSPRING or HAGAR you have to do prior to going to SUBWAY TOWN until they have this bug fixed.Last edited by SithLordMoore; 10-09-11 at 05:50 PM.
