Re: My Thoughts on TF2.
Exactly. Yes, there are a lot of items being implemented into the game, but a lot of them are either reskins or useless. So what if people can get items through achievement/idling servers? Does that effect you, or the way we play the game at TPG? Does it really? If that and hats do bother you, that's a really silly reason to dislike the game. It's still the same game at TPG, which is really all that matters. This OMGHATS anti-TF2 movement has gotten a little ridiculous.

Re: My Thoughts on TF2.
They are fun to have but im not going to go crazy cause I did or did not get one. All they do is make it easyer to identify who your fighting. They dont add anything to the game except a reason for collectors to keep playing. They dont detract anything from the game at all, so its all positive.

Re: My Thoughts on TF2.
The hats never have and still don't bother me.
I'm not exactly here to argue though. This isn't a thesis on bad game design. I'm not a developer. This is my own reasons why TF2 doesn't hold my attention like it used to. It's mostly intangible, but when I hop on TF2 these days there's a VERY intense feeling of loss, or of something missing. There's too much shit everywhere, too many other things to take the focus away from the GAMEPLAY.
I like my games focused, concentrated, to the point. That's why I enjoy L4D2 so very, very much. It's VERY focused, there isn't an unlock that makes the tank shoot lasers out of it's eyes, there's not a special Uzi that blasts SI off edges. It's that pure essence of gameplay, the core foundation of "Here is your character, here are your teammates, here is your enemy and here is your goal." That is what interests me. I'm not interested in doing all kinds of wacky zany side shit. I'm here to coordinate, communicate, and achieve victory with my team. I'm here to play.
Now, other people may not be affected by the changes. That's good, I'm happy for you guys that it doesn't bother you, and I wish it didn't bother me this much, but it does.
"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work. "

I damn near spit up my drink reading this...
I hear ya Thor. There are some that love change and there are some that do not. I guess being an OG TF2 player, I can still see the core of the game in there (9 classes, all with checks and balances, and all fighting for one goal as a team), but I can see how all the trivial crap can deter from that. Like Pimp said though, the gaming atmosphere at TPG hasnt changed. We are still the fun-loving competitive bunch, so all I ask is that you keep an eye on your server favorites when we actually do have people in there.
I think I can speak for the pro-TF2ers when I say that we arent here to argue, but rather to instill hope when all hope might be lost in some. We have to keep the server alive any way we can, whether it be a 24/7 event server to grab players or 49 Steam announcements to get people to prime.Last edited by enf; 11-23-11 at 12:17 AM.

Re: My Thoughts on TF2.
Whenever I pick TF2 up for a few hours a month I find that using mostly old stuff works just fine. Lots of enemies still die. Things that make enemies very resistant to certain damage types are annoying if you don't know what that damage type is (and are just thinking "why won't this guy die"). I still see the dead ringer as a very cheesy mechanic for people who wouldn't have lasted 1 map as a spy back in the TeamFortressClassic.
It's nice to keep things fresh with a few updates here and there, but having a way to turn back the clock and play TF2 with just the medic update would be fun. I'm probably biased, though, because I don't play it enough to get bored with the stock classes.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html
