Re: Fallout3?
You likely didn't like Morrowind because it's so old now. I LOVED that game years ago but when I tried to play it again a few years back the interface was too outdated for me to really enjoy much.
Go get Skyrim and get the feeling Morrowind had in it's time.

Re: Fallout3?
I did not like morrowind partly due to the incredibly stupid "story".
I'm a convict in a cage and the king needs my help to....because only I...........there can be only one...........its just stupid.
Inventory was not automatically linked to the "I" key...why? It took me 10 minutes to figue out how to drop something in the sewer that I spent 20+ minutes in.....dumb, dumb, and dumb. ***Nothing to do with graphics. They were/are fine.*** When I got out of sewer, I just didn't care about the game/world and I sure as shit did not want a fantasy history lesson of the realms from every tom, dick and book I clicked on........But that's just me. Some folks like game history more than current events in the RL. I am not one of them.
In Arkham asylum, I got tired of following directions. (Swing to the "x" by pressing "q". Now Duck. Now sit. Now bark like dog. To do "Y" first, click on "w".) Honestly, I felt like the game was playing me. Next time I fire it up, I'll find a gamepad, maybe that will help.
Mainly I guess it's the "story" that everyone else loves that I find unnecessary, contrived and time consuming. I do not care to play the fairy prince or destinies child. I do not want to save the world from "x" and I sure as hell don't want a long boring "story" in my game. Hell, I don't want a long good story in my game. I just want a game to play that is not telling me how to play it, giving me speeches or bothering me with it's made up history.
It's just too much. I don't care anymore about the kings nephew than I do Mick Jaggers grandchild. At least I don't have to listen to Jaggers grandchild to enjoy some tunes.
So here I am in Fallout 3, being born.
Honestly. Do I get to experience defecation at a later point in the game? Or is that a DLC? Is there a quest involved? Who crapped first, how difficult was it, what became of the crapper and what did it reveal? Will the graphics of the commode hold up in the coming years?
Come to think of it, the other two games I bought this year (transformers war for cybertron and ghostbusters) I have no idea what the story is. I just play them every once in a while.
I think I will only buy games after a demo in the future. (Thank you BF3!)
Or maybe I will avoid games with a "story" lol.

Re: Fallout3?
Ugh, just tried to play this a bit more. I staggered through interacting with my daddy as a baby. And he talked and talked. I was listening to the radio in RL, so I'm not sure what he was babbling about but he was saying it as I went into the living room without him.
Then I'm 10. At my birthday party......no idea what these people are saying, but since the guy talking is holding a wrist device that looks like one my dad and he are wearing, I can guess, that i am "of age" to have one....super. Now I have to listen to some 10 yr old brat talk to me. and talk and talk.
Alt tabbing out of game pauses, but does not skip it. I can't find anyway to skip these npcs from speaking or any way of speeding up their dribble.
Dare I ask what next? Will I have cake? Will it be chocolate?
What age will I be next ? 12? Will I get to play with my very first girl friend!?!?!?! OMG, LOL!!!
DAMN, I have had more fun bitching about this game for 5 minutes than I have playing, I mean listening, to it for 20.
Out of curiosity, just how much more of this can I expect to wade through before the game begins?
Edit - For fucks sake I have to talk to all these nimrods just to get through the party bullshit stage?
I have found a way to speed up conversations though, that's some small comfort.
Then I got a bb gun and turned 16. and the npcs continued to talk and talk and talk and talk.

Re: Fallout3?
It's been a while since I've been through this, but if I remember right :
-party ends
-daddy offers you a special gift, your very first compressed air carbine
-you get to shoot some giant cockroaches
-time passes, you're an adult
-you have to pass a test to figure out what is going to be your job in the vault for now on
-The bullies you've grown up with are getting pretty gay, and call themselves "the tunnel snakes". This is very important (lol no).
-Dad breaks out of the vault for some reasons
-You want to go after him
-Guards will try to kill you for some reasons I can't remember
-You may or may not go save one of the bullies' mom from giant cockroaches
-you get out of the vaultLast edited by chray00; 12-07-11 at 02:45 PM.

Almost correct (I actually just did this part, for the third time due to hard drive crash, then switching computers (and too lazy to go get the file off the other). The tunnel snakes pop-up before you take the test, and you don't have to pass it (through the dialogue choices, you can tell him what results you want and avoid taking the test). I think the guards are trying to capture you (not kill, though its basically the same thing), also if I recall correctly the vault leaders daughter tells you to escape (you don't decide to go find your dad). Granted 100% of this only matters if you give a shit about the story.
Still, I don't see how someone can play Fallout 3 wanting nothing to do with story? It seems like it is important to the game, unless you plan to just shoot random things for an hour and then go play something else.
